I'm currently doing a swap from a severly stuck C152 in a 1947 I-4 road roller conversion to a C169 short block from an unknown year 300U. There are significant differences in the front timing covers and how they mount the engines in the tractor as there will be with your row crop. I'm also finding the 300U's engine has different size bolts attaching the timing cover to the block. The hole pattern is the same and there may or may not be dowel pins, but 7 or 8 of the holes in the 300 block's face are 1/2NC instead of 3/8NC. It's being a hiccup for me, but not anything insurmountable. After looking em all over side by side in pieces, I'm saying it definitely can be done.
