my dad has had his 1940 farmall A for at least 40 years and he bought it from the original owner and it has been bar kept by both owners. Dad front emblem is all silver no black what so ever. I know it is not faded or pealed off. Our mid 40's "H's" showed me what that looks like. I would feel safe to say that the early "A" only had a silver collor rasied letter farmall tag on the front with no black. Chad
