$1500 sounds high for an "A" like you describe, in most parts of the country. In Western WA, where tractor prices are high, a crank start "A" would maybe bring $1000-1500. You're right, though, adding a starter would involve a new clutch housing, flywheel and of course the starter. Adding hydraulics is easier. You can run a automotive power steering pump in place of the generator (No lights, anyway, right?), add a reservoir and cobble up a bracket to hold a control valve, and off you go. Might operate kinda slow, but at least it's hydraulics. Might be better off with a Super A. Great thing about the A, Super A and Cub is that they are little enough that you can buy one hundreds of miles from home, run down to U-haul, rent a car trailer and tow it behind just about anything.
