Hey Bob, did you get your machine running right yet?
I've been off for a few days but I was looking around and found your problem.
Two summers ago my Great Uncle had exactly the same problem with his Super M it was the end of summer and he was mowing and it would run and quit, run and quit. I didn't look at it till near the end of last summer. I haven't been into this tractor stuff too too long, but I figured it had to be a fuel problem.
So I drained the tank and took it off to see what the inside looked like. First thing I noticed was that the remaining "fuel" looked more like varnish than gas... The tank was clean and not rusty which is a blessing on these older machines.
Then I took off the fuel like from the bowl and blew it out good. Finally I took off the bowl assembly and cleaned it good.

This all was enough to get the machine running nice, but oddly enough it wouldn't charge now....

Well I took a look at the battery and noticed that it was set up with POSITIVE ground! Well heck Great Uncle said that was the way it's supposed to be and I didn't really know any better, until I started coming here....

I haven't had time to get up north to see Great Uncle but when I do you better believe that machine is gonna run good! I've even bought a manual! Betcha I can really screw stuff up now!!!
