If you have a timing light, first with engine running and warm, work through all 4 cylinders with the light. A bad plug wire will show up as skips in the regular pattern of strobes. Second, or really first, look at the points. I mean really look. I just put points on my H and the hot side point was nothing but the cam arm with the contact completely burned. Also, plugs can foul and first show with skips. Also, is your carb ok, for sure?? Coil can act funny before it fails, and show skips, and you might substitute another coil temporarily to see if it goes away. Tighten, or replace the wiring from the switch to the coil, and from the coil to the distributor. My H would not crank in the morning when cool, but every other time was fine. Reason was the feed line from the distributor to the neg terminal of the coil had a break in it, which when cool caused an open, and would close with expansion when warm. - - also you can have a funny open in any of the wires including the coil wire to the distributor. You can have a crack in the distributor cap, which will act funny. Last, for me anyway, have you changed gas, or is there any possibility you have water in the tank. Also, make sure the air line is open in the tank cap. If you suspect water, put 1 pint rubbing alcohol in the tank. The water will go out as gasahol. Good luck. RK Smith
