Rear seal is rope style, two pieces in each side of rear crank journal. To get to the 2 halves of the rear crank journal there is a plate on the back of the motor that needs to come off. It's a two piece that I can't imagine getting all the bolts off with the flywheel in the way. Not saying it can't be done, just I wouldn't try it. On the PTO seal, I just changed the one on a '41 straight A. The original leather seal was just under an inch thick with about 5 or 6 layers of metal and leather sandwiched in there. I wasted alot of time digging at it from the outside before I finally pulled the belt pulley, then the PTO housing. Next you have to pull the PTO gear and drive the PTO shaft with the seal out from behind. The PTO gear is tight, you need a good 3 jaw puller and a vise. (Now that was the original '41 leather seal. The replacement would be easy to get out from the outside, just one layer of metal and a rubber lip. Less than a half inch thick.) Might try to determine which you have in there now first. Stan(VA).
