I just hooked it up the same way the 6V reg. was hoked up. I polarized the reg. according to the instructions that came with the reg. I reversed the battery cables. At first it didn't work. Then i noticed the starter button seemed to getting hot. I reversed the starter leads and it fired right up. I put 12V bulbs in. My ammeter shows a discharge when running. But if I turn the lights on it shows a charge. So I assume it is working backwards. My generator is indicating 13+ volts. Since a lead acid battery will always output 2.2 volts per cell, 6x2.2 = 13.2 volts. I guess this matches up to the battery for charging pretty good. Good luck, Irv
