Steven, I 've heard of a ball from the bearings going around the bull gear and going between the bull and the housing actually cracking the housing. Check it carefully underneath for hair line cracks. Bearings are available from your Case-IH dealer, a rebuild is a good idea based on the condition you found them in...no choice in the matter...good luck from Mike in Exeter Ontario
