I have a 49 super A. When I rebuilt mine, I went to the IH dealer and was lucky enough to get a 75 yr. old Parts man. My super a had a vertical shaft which was square on the bottom with a square hole in the steering arm. This old guy said that IH made a kit about 50 years ago to replace these parts. but it wasn't available any more but the parts were available individually. The thing is you get parts from a 140 or newer super a replacement, which is a vertical shaft with a tapered, keyed, threaded end . and a steering arm with a tapered hole you can tighten it up and keepit tight. BUTTTTT. before you put it back together, put a new keyway in the steerin sector gear inside the gearbox. GOOD LUCK
