I just moved over to Sullivan county IN, and there are quite a few sawmills around here. there is one just north of Sullivan on US 41 and another over near Linton IN and several in Owen county. I know there are more around here, but can't think of them right now. The best wood to use is White oak. Red oak will rot as fast as pine, but white oak is rot stable.Just look at old wooden barrels, they were all made from white oak.White oak was also used in Steamboat hulls before they went to steel. Locust, cypress are good also, but locust can be brittle. If money is no object use Mahogany or Teak, but get ready to grab your chest when you find out the cost. If you want it to last forever don't waste your money on Thompsons or stuff like that. Use your old used motor oil or old gear lube and mix it with kerosene and brush that on every fall with an old broom, when you are done using the trailer for the year. by spring the oil soaks in good and won't be slick plus it keeps the mold and fungus which cause rot from forming if the wood gets wet. If you are worried about tires slipping, make a "path" using hex head sheet metal screws screwed in the wood where the tires run.I mop down my steel deck trailer every fall just to keep it from rusting and it works great for that too.

It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro
