the SMTA pictured in the HOOK-MAGIZINE--2002 calinder i built the motor for like 6 years ago.it has no real trick parts in it, the block is out of a 400 with the 4.250-sealed power domed pistons only like .140 on the dome.it has a pentrex-electroinc distribitor in it,i used a denny,s cam way back then and did not like the duration but tried it anyway, and it,s still in there.it has a 450 LP-head with a real good 3 angle valve job and the spring,s were new for a 450 but set up properly.it has a old 1/2 M&W stroker crank in it.i decked the block and stood the pistons .080 out of the block to help raise the compresion ratio.i only did like a .020 cut on the head to clean it up.if i remember right the timing is set at 28 to 32 depend,s on were it run,s total deegrese.there are no real trick,s in the motor and on a good day it will break 105 hp at 540 on the dyno... the motor has no internal water leek,s and has not been apart in 6 years..........but you must run good gas in it.on the national cerciut it will still run in the top 5 any were in the U.S.A. 2 years ago it was the div-4 7500 champ.it real needs a bigger motor to run with that bunce now.jerry leek is the owner of the tractor.
