Don your M might be in time at idle. Sounds like one of the advance springs is broken. You should have roughly 30 degrees advancement at 1,600 RPM. You will have to remove the points and condensor. Four bolts hold the breaker plate in the assembly. You will then see the 2 weights and 2 springs under the breaker plate.
