I think often times the tractor is for sale because the tractor needs work and the owner doesn't want to put any money into it. All the ones I see at consignment auctions seem to be that way. I quess you have to take that into account when deciding what you're going to pay. Along that same line, I often see restored tractors with a price that seems outragious at first but if you add up what it will cost to fix up an old tractor it probably will cost the same - its just a question of paying it all now or the same amount over time.
