Splitting C in front of transmission

Recently split my C just in front of the transmission to fix transmission oil leaks that were coming from that area. Turned out to be a fairly easy job, and fairly easy to get back together. I found that one of the two alignment dowels was missing. The hole that the dowel is pressed into goes through into the transmission and there is no gasket between the transmission face and the torque tube, so I think that is where most of the leak was coming from. The main shaft seal looked new, and I did not replace it. Whoever worked on it before, had put it back together with no gasket under the drive shaft seal holder and also no gasket under the countershaft bearing cover. That was also some source of leak. It's back together now with a new dowell from IH (Cost $9 for that!) and new gaskets. The leak is gone! I had been worried about supporting things to do the split, but that turned out to be pretty easy. I supported the front with some 6 X 6 timbers with braces bolted to the cultivator mount holes on the bell housing and held the rear up with a shop crane (engine lift) and just rolled the rear part back. Turned out that with the split just in front of the tranny, the rear end is just about balanced. I had to take off the 3 point hitch to lighten the back end because it wanted to rare up on the front until I took that off.
