Bob - An alternator conversion to your backhoe should be a straight forward swap. Use the same wiring diagram as for the Farmall. Only differences: 1 - Remove the old generator voltage regulator. Then connect the "BAT" terminal on the alternator to the wire that had been connected to "BAT" terminal on the old regulator. 2 - If your Ford already has a generator warning light in the dash, locate the wire running from it to the old regulator. Connect that wire to the alternator #1 terminal. 3 - Since the Ford is a diesel there's no ignition coil, hence no need for a ballast resistor. If you have a wiring diagram for the backhoe and can post it or email it to me, I will provide more detail if you need it. ...Bob M
