What's the weirdest thing you ever found in cooling system?

I took the radiator off my Super A today and when I looked into the head I saw something odd. I fished it out with a pair of pliers. I'm not quite sure what it really is but I think it might be off the end of a hose. It is about an inch in diameter, has splines on the outside, is threaded on the inside, and is made of a black flexible plastic. I was just wondering if anyone else ever found things like that in their tractors.
