Once I got so mad at kids stealing pumpkins and smashing them that I decided to do something that made it too easy for them. I filled 3 big pumpkins with concrete and located them on the edge of the road that goes in front of our house. (Speed Limit 45). All of the honest people in the town drove by the innocent looking pumpkins. But not the dumb@$$ teenagers who had been stealing pumpkins. They saw this as an easy target and proceeded to hit my pumpkins at about oh....65-70mph. Needless to say, at 2 in the morning when you hear a boom like that, it wakes you up... It had sheared the steering linkage and tie rods from the front end of their pickup and they had to stop....in the middle of the road...A quick 911 and the kids were in a little trouble, I didn't press charges, I just wanted them to rat out all their friends who had been doing the same thing. It worked....The pumpkin stealing has stopped for the past 2 years. Just a suggestion, I could only imagine the looks on the guys faces when they ran over those pumpkins though....POW!!!...LOL....Merry Christmas!!

Looking around at my new neighbors, most of whom are city raised and have recently acquired their first mini-farms of five to fifteen acres and also from reading questions ask at various discussion sites on the web it is frighteningly apparent that a great many guys (and a few gals) are learning by trial and error and mostly error how to use a very dangerous piece of farm equipment. It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro ... [Read Article]
