Fellers, We're inna wrong bidness, or another long whiney story

Stopped by the local tractor dealer last night on the way home. You see, I've got this '43 M with a F11B loader on it, and I use it to move big round bales of hay to the cows once a week or so. Since this year's bales weigh 1700 pounds each, I went for CaCl fluid, only to find the rims were too rough and rotted already. And they're cut off spokes. Okay, run around, burn up the phone lines and find cast centers (paid twice too much, but they were the only ones within a hundred miles)with 2 pair of 150 pound weights, and found some used rims for $150 w/ worn out 11X38 tires. And I decided against CaCl in the tires, cause I don't want to have more wrapped up in the wheels than in the rest of the tractor. Anyway, if there is snow on the ground I can lift the bale, or I can move the tractor, not both at the same time. Backend gets awful light with that bale on the loader, and I like to keep all four wheels on the ground........ Ended up dragging the bale 300 feet, then tipping it into the feeder. So, I stop by this dealer (of another color, you have to guess) cause he's the only game within 50 miles. I ask if they've got wheel weights that'll fit a Farmall M or 400. He says, "No, but I think I can get ya some." I say, "Okay, let's see." He gets on the phone and calls, and they got some. I say, "How much." He says, "$150 per pair." I say, "Forget that, and I probably won't be back." The place he called is about 125 miles away and sells the weights for about $50 a pair (last year when I didn't want and need them). They also make regular parts delivery runs down to our neighborhood, so it ain't freight. This place advertises as an antique tractor part dealer. If ya need a three bottom drag plow, with rotted tires, cracked shares and moldboards, one coulter, bent levers, and don't mind digging it out, ya can get it there for only $350. Or maybe a disk harrow with half the discs broken or missing? Let it go fer only $300. Thanks for listening and letting me vent.
