IH made their own axle for the 5X88 series. The Elwood axle carried over to the 3X88 series as the rearend was basically the same as the 86 series was. Elwood had several different mounting methods thru the time I dealt with them at FARMALL. The later axles pinned right on like the OEM front axle. No extra mounting brackets to bolt on the front bolster. Sure wish I still had the picture of the Hydro 186 FWA Hi-Clear Elwood made for IHC Hinsdale! Talk about RARE! It was disassembled befroe it left ELWOOD's shop! to go back to Hinsdale.
