last spring i ran across the deal of my life...a neighbor was getting out of the farming undustry after spending his whole life in it and he wanted to get rid of a few pices of machinery...he had a 54 SM-TA diesel that he wanted 900 for. it was in a barn about to fall over hadnt been used or ran in 10 years but looks like new. had factory widefront, T/A works. the tractor still had the fuel in the tank too..i bought filters for it, battery and fuel put it in there and he showed me how to start it and bam she fired right up. it sounded good except it had a skip in the engine. it has the add on 3pt and fenders off a 706 but that doesent bother me. i spent the first part of the summer looking into what the skip was and finding that and fixing she purrs like a kitten. i used it to mow around 200 acers of hay and it is a joy to run. i have a chance to buy a fairly new koyker loader to put on it but i dont know....what do yall think?i think that was the best 900 bucks i have ever spent on a tractor and i know i will get my money back if i ever want to sell it, but right now thats no where near being in the pic.
