Andy, I believe your problem is either coming from the needle valve in the carburetor not seating properly, so as to either fill up and run in through the valves when sitting idle for long periods. Or you have a major restriction in the intake somewhere, such as the oil bath on air cleaner being plugged, or the mesh in filter full of chaff. Remove the bottom oil pan on air cleaner, and take a look at the mesh and see if it appears full of chopped hay, grass whatever. You may have to remove it to clean it good. Another spot to look is through the center tube, by removing the top bonnet of the air cleaner with the bottom off. Now you should see quite an accumulation of gunk in there, if it hasn't been cleaned for sometime. Take a stiff stick whatever and wrap a clean towel, meaning shop towel of course,and ram it through there, until clean. Let me know how that helps. I would think if that tractor is used for a reasonable length of time each day, any slight buildup of gas in the oil would be dissipated through the heat from the engine, as I worked with these old girls for a good thirty some years.
