First, order books. Seriously, the Operator's Manual is a good guide to how to maintain (therefore check over) your tractor. If you're looking at a restoration or just have a lot to fix, a parts book is good both for part numbers and exploded views of how things are put together. If you're gonna go deep into the motor especially, the I&T Manual will prove real handy. There's a place on this site that will have these, or you can try Binder Books or Little Red Tractor Company. Once you've placed your order, then it's time to go to work (read play). Does it run? Get some fresh and clean gas into her. I'd make sure the radiator is full and change the oil, keeping an eye out for water or anti-freeze when I drain the old oil. NAPA can fix you up with a new oil filter. Clean out and put new oil in the air cleaner cup. I'd run a non-detergent oil in the motor until I'd at least dropped the pan and cleaned out the sludge and lifted the valve cover to get some idea of how clean or dirty the inside is. Before long you should have your books and can get about the business of adjusting the carb, changing the oil in the trans/rear end, and all the other stuff. I had a blast with my SuperC (still am). As you go along, some of the best friends you'll have are a good parts guy and the folks here on the board who have got a lot of experience they're willing to share. Good luck!
