Had the same durn thing happen to me only three times. This last time (3rd new head gasket) I first tightened down the head bolts into the block to point where last thread was showing above the block. Made a new headbolt out of a grade 8, 1/2" bolt I tempered it with heat as I cut the new threads on it. Torqued head to 65, then to 75 and finally to 80 ft.lbs. Warmed it up to running temp, retorqued all in sequence to 80 again and set the valve clearances. After the tractor cooled down, I have no leakers and it runs like a swiss watch. I think the torque range on 1/2" grade 5 studs is 80-90 ft.lbs. Grade 8 must be 90-100.//FB
