I don't often admit it but in 1971 Dad decided we needed additional large hp tractor to help out. Thought we would get an 806 or even a 1206 to go with that new 1256. But what did he buy? A two year old 1030 Case! To me he may as well have bought a Mineapolis Moline as that blasted thing. He put the part time hired man on that thing luckily and I got to run the 1256. He still has that old 1030 but the 1256 has been replaced with a 1086. The old 1030 required a $4000 rearend OH shortly after he bought it and about 15 years ago the front rod bearing seized and galled the crankshaft. He could have bought a new 1456 for what was eventually spent on this old tractor. Guess he figures he is married to it now is why he still has it!
