MY C was doing the same thing. I had done about everything that has been brought up here. A old time Farmall man I met said I should set the valves with the tractor warm and running at idle. I did it with the motor off and then checked it with the cover off while running and was surprised at how off they where. Set them running and it smoothed everything out a lot. It also will idle much slower now and the rain cap just sits there.This may not help your problem but it sure made mine run a lot better and it was easy to do. It will viberate your hands a little trying to adjust moveing valves. Paul
