The Red you provided some initial information in September. We're just getting back to working on the tractor and have questions. Is there a chance we could call you? If so, you can email us your phone number. Thanks. Our problem we were changing our Super M from 6 volt to 12 volt. We purchased the same VR as the one that was removed. There was only 3 terminals on it - Battery, generator and "F". The 2 wires from the Battery through the amp meter we put on the Battery Terminal. Then generator wire, we connected to the Generator terminal. The field wire we connected to the "F" terminal. (This tractor is a positive ground). We added a ballast resistor before the coil. We did the steps to polerize the generator. Then we attempted to start the tractor. When we turn on the switch, the ampmeter goes immediately to discharge. The tractor did not start. We checked it for spark and didn't have any so we removed the points and cleaned them and put them back in. That didn't help. The VR did feel a little warm. We hope we didn't hurt anything! We need help on what to do next.
