I'm almost to the point of removing the head and thought i'd remove pushrod cover and see what I got. It appears to be 50+ yrs of sludge/crud build up. I was expecting bad. But this seems pretty bad. My intention as to do an in-frame overhaul. My question is this: (and i probably already know the answer) If I'm going to spend near $700 for engine parts I can't see putting them into an engine with this build up of crap. Should engine be removed and boiled out? What has been some of your experiences? The previous owner told me he had used non-detergent oil.
