I agree with Red - sounds like an ignition problem. First check the timing advance with a timing light. Should be right around 0 deg (TDC) at idle, and advance to about 35 deg BTC at full RPM. If you haven't already done so, replace the plugs with new. Use Champion D-21 or the AC equivalent (C86?). Also replace the points and condenser, and make sure the point gap is correct (0.020) Unless the high voltage wires are solid copper (not radio surpression or "resistor" wires) replace them also.
