I used the advice of this group to do the same thing you are doing. The previous answers work great. When you’re done putting things in and shaking them about you still will have a bunch of stuff in it. My M tank is awkward to shake around...I used acetone...then when I thought I had all the stuff out, I took a pressure hose (self serve car wash) and took the wand to it. I had huge flakes of scale come flying out. I dried the tank directly after in the sun and then for three days with a light bulb stuck in the tank. I did not seal the tank, I thought the baffle in it would create a problem for me if I just poured liquid sealer in it. I put the tank back on and went through three tanks of gas so far...even ran it slap dry once and have not needed to empty the sediment bowl yet. I'd say the best thing was the high-pressure hose, it took about $5.00 as my tank was real bad and had sat in a field for 5 years with a rusted through gas cap. If you use a high-pressure hose to clean the tank and find a better way to dry it let me know.
