I'm not too sure you're gonna have any luck with that GEO alternator on a positive ground tractor, unless that's what the GEO is (I don't know if it is or not, but didn't think anybody made positive ground stuff anymore). You may be in luck if your starter is series wound, which means it will turn the proper direction no matter which polarity is ground. Simple test is to hook the battery up backwards (since your generator is shot, nothing to lose) and see if it still cranks in the right direction. If that's the case, you can switch the rig to negative ground. I don't know what the terminals are for on the alternator you have. Consider a Delcotron, as they are easy, simple and cheap.
