Tom- I’m not an expert on these things by any stretch of the imagination. But some of the very posters below gave advice that helped me out of a related situation. If you get to the point that your generator is charging and the tractor will keep running but your ammeter never goes into charging territory and your battery is always dead, there’s another thing to check. My regulator was new when I got my tractor but the battery wasn’t charging. From posts on this site I was able to determine that the regulator needed adjustment. I forget the details, but one of the relays in it needed to have the spring tension changed. I was able to gradually bend the little metal post the spring attaches to until the ammeter showed a charge and it solved the problem. So you might want to search around here a bit on that subject to find out how it is done and what charging rate to shoot for as you adjust it.
