YES I HAVE A RESISTOR THAT THAT MOUNTS DIRECTLY ON THE ALTERNATOR. HOWEVER ALL THE COILS I HAVE USED (NAPA IC14, STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS UC15 AND WELLS LU800) SAY RIGHT ON THE COIL BODY "USE WITHOUT EXTERNAL RESISTOR. ALL THESE MANUFACTURES SAY THAT THESE COILS ARE THE ONES THEIR CATOLOG SAYS ARE FOR A 184 CUB LOWBOY, 12v SYSTEM. COULD THE FACT THAT I HAVE A INLINE RESISTOR WITH A COIL THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE ONE BE THE PROBLEM?
