Oil in Air Cleaner for M

I took the fuel tank off my M...spent hours cleaning it out...Woo what a job! I then primed and installed it again. I took off the hood and grill and am working these over real well also. The engine runs real well and didn't burn any oil until I put the air cleaner oil in. I used 30 wt like the engine and only filled it to the fill line. I ran the tractor down to the horse stable (1/2 mile) and it started smoking (blue). I didn't disconnect the carb to see if oil had dripped down into it from the cleaner yet but I will do that this evening. Any Way, is it normal to burn oil from the cleaner on occation?
