RE: Cooling system tear down on an H

I will be replacing the radiator on my 47 H this weekend (probably). The old one has several small holes in the upper and lower tanks and the filler neck has been beaten around enough so that the cap doesn't fit tight. The tractor has had a lot of hands in it over the years and I have found in all previous cases when I have gotten into a system that I spend some time replacing/restoring or repairing missing, altered or broken parts.
So I was wondering what, if any, other parts deserve an inspection while I have the radiator off. A couple of observations may be useful. I can hear a squeek (~ once per second with throttle one-half open) that may be coming from the water pump but I can't confirm the location. Also the water temperature gauge never gets over about 140°. That seems low to me but I'm not sure what its telling me if anything.
I plan to replace all hoses, the thermostat (my guess is it doesn't have one now), and the oil seal where the steering shaft enters the worm gear pot (leaks like crazy). I'd like to replace the lower seal around the upper bolster at the bottom of the pot as well but IH apparently no longer makes that seal and I'm not sure where to get a replacement (I'm hoping to be able to get back to putting gear oil in the worm gear compartment; right now it's packed with grease). Any suggestions you all may have would be greately appreciated!
