There was some gas in the float when I first took the carb apart. I drained it and resoldered it. It's ok now. Thought maybe I got too much solder on the float and weighed it down but I did grind off as much as I dared. Think I'll rig up some way to keep it level and work on it on the bench using water today. Right now I've got the float adjusted so it doesn't overflow (gas level about 1/4" below gasket) but the engine seems to run out of gas after maybe 5 minutes, wait a few seconds and it starts right up again. It has a new needle valve and seat so I don't see how it could be sticking. Today's another day...
