I'm curious if anyone can tell me when IH went from a 3 speed to the 4 speed transmission in the W30 tractors.I thought it was in 1936. Several years ago I bought a W30 which had the serial number tag missing. This week someone told me where I could find the number on the block and its has serial number 8287 which according to the list in the book "150 years of IH" it was made in late 1935 but I have a 4 speed transmission. My IT manual gives a serial number for the change over that puts it in 1937. I'd like to find out what was the correct serial number for the switch. I apparently have one very early after the change or someone has changed the block on the tractor which I don't think has happened.
