I disagree on the low probibility of fixing that crack. There are several ways to fix it. Some costing up to a few hundred dollors down to less than $50. You can have it welded and re-bored, brazed and re-bored, you can even take a dremil or die grinder and bevel the crack out and use JB Weld on it and spend the time cleaning it up yourself. It is protected by the dry sleeve to a certain extent. I have seen cold weld compounds used on cylinder walls for push mowers 10yrs ago that are still running. The probibility of fixing it is high it is just a question of how much work you are will ing to put into it or how much you are willing to spend for someone esle to fix it. Just mu 2 cents worth. (my grandpa refused to buy new when he could cobble it up or make the part he needed I guess I just take after him.) Matt
