Well, I re-re-re-timed the magneto, following the combined instruction of Spenser Yost's Antique Tractor Bible, my Farmall M service manual, and the magneto timing article on this site. Got it hooked up and totaled 30 seconds cranking on the starter. She sputtered twice and then ROARED to life! Ran a little rough but steady for about 4 minutes, then ploof, she stalled. Gas valve was open. She was no longer interested in running. But I'm still happy, the magneto is on (I presume) correctly, now all I have to do is figure out how to keep her running. Thanks for all the help! tomorrow we shoot for steady running! -BTD
