Electrical Questions M

Due to pack rats and Dads old 42 M setting for years I've found myself at the rewire stage of this project. If you have the box face down on the work bench the right side of the ammeter (discharge side of gage face) has 3 wires attached. One goes to the screw at bottom of fuse. One goes to the on/off switch. And one goes to the volt. reg. Bat. terminal. Does this sound right? The left side of the ammeter wire is broken about a foot out of the box. Where should this wire go?(Starter button with the Neg. Bat. cable?) And where does the other wire from the on/off switch go? ( neg. side of the coil?)
Next is the light switch the headlights are wired to screw #3 but there is also a wire that is broken a foot out of the box (same rat) that is also wired on that screw. (would the back light be wired to that same screw as the headlights?) Last of all I could not belive that the fuse was a bolt. It's not in bad shape (the bolt)but I think I'll put the proper size fuse in. What size of fuse should be in there? And can I get one at and auto parts store? Thanks for any help. This is one great site. I've got shop books on the way I just had to get working on this old M.
