The M is a bigger and heavier tractor than the H. The wheel base of the two is the same and implements are designed to fit both, but everything on the M is bigger, not just the engine. The rear wheel tread on the M is wider and the wheels can not be set as narrow as they can on the H. The transmission/final drive housing is wider on the M as is the front end that supports the engine, so implements use spacers for the H and the spacers are not needed for the M. If the wheels are turned out, you cannot haul an M on a trailer that reguires the M rear wheels to fit between the trailer wheels. For the M, with wheels turned out, you must have an over the wheels trailer. If you ever see an M and H sitting side by side, you will immediately see the difference.
