Northern Tool (www.northerntool.com) sells solar chargers, etc. You might give them a look. Not exactly sure of the wiring, but I think with a couple resistors to drop the voltage to 6 you could use a 12 volt charger Item# 334318 which they sell for $19.95. Someone else may be able to give a diagram which might help, but you should be able to just leave it hooked up to maintain the battery. These don't apply much current, and might be the ticket to keep it ready for you. At any rate you should be able to come up with a solar panel to trickle charge and maintain relatively inexpensively.
