You can tweek the Cub to put out more power, but most times you would spend more than the cost of a bigger tractor to do so if you are dealing with a Cub that is in good shape to start with. If you have a junker that needs a full rebuild, it probably wouldn't cost too much more to boost the power. Some modifications I have heard are bore the block to .040 over an put in oversize pistons, put in a carb from a 154 or 184, shave the head for more compression, and run stronger springs in the governor to boost RPMs. All of these things would help, but expect 10-15% more horsepower maximum (1-1.5 whopping horses). And then you run into limitation #2, weight. You would probably need to double stack the rear weights and load the tires to add enough weight to make use of the power. How about a nice Super A??
