I had the same problem with my 300U and rebuilt the carb so many times that I can do it in my sleep!! I finally bought a professionally rebuilt one, and now it runs fantastic. I cleaned the gas tank, checked the electrical system before i bought the new carb and had no luck. Another note, the governor has a spring in it that needs tension on it. If you replace your carb, make sure that you wind the spring a little or your throttle will not work well at all.
