Check screen in elbow where fuel line goes into carb. While you have it off check for good flow to carb. This also could be an ignition problem as in sticking advance mechanism in distributor. I had similar problem and this was one of the culprits. See if rotor moves freely in dist, or sticks when you move it. If I recall correctly it should spring back when you rotate it one direction with two fingers. This might give you a good start.
