Let's back up a minute. If the engine runs well with no smoke what is prompting you to check compression? If it's low power that could be due to external things like timing. Could this be a low compression multi-fuel engine? Even readings on all cylinders is usually a good thing. Now back to your testing. With all the plugs out I would think that hand cranking would be fast enough to get a good reading. Assuming you have real problem, the next step would be to determine what leaks, rings or valves. Adding oil through the spark plug holes to temporarily improve the ring sealing during another compression test will raise compression significantly. Valve leaking is unlikely with even compression in all cylinders. Another test is called a leak down test which others can explain better. David
