thanks for memories about the Older IHC H. I've since seen other pictures and references showing 9x36" rears on H's. Like you, my personal experience with my Dad's H was 38" wheels.

It's very interesting that several of you have confirmed that there was a rectangular brake peddal latch plate. very interesting, I thought someone had made this one and put it on.

I have a '41 H that has different starter system. There is a short rod angled through the lower steering post. It rests up against the start switch button. You can either push the rod with your foot or hand.

I agree that in real life, all was not as perfect or as consistent as the "guide books" make it seem. Farmers and Dealers made changes to tractors as time went along.

For instance, in our farming community (in '60s) not all the farms had flat belt pulley for their tractor. When someone needed to drive a flat belt, they would come over and borrow the pulley off our tractor. There was no question that it would be returned.

I agree that we will be losing those that lived back then and remember. What do you do. They will never know. I think that's how it's always been.
