Charging problem

Know this has been covered by Bob M, et al. many times, but I can't seem to find it in the archives. Not getting any juice out of my generator (on 300U converted to 12V, negative ground system). What's the drill to determine whether the problem is the generator, or the voltage regulator, once again??? Thanks, and sorry for not paying attention previously.
