joefarmer - Sounds like the battery got installed backward and now it's dead. Here's what to do: 1 - Remove and recharge (if possible) the battery. There's a chance however the battery's been ruined - if so replace it. 2 - Connect the recharged or new battery with the proper post grounded (probably the + post in your case). 3 - Turn on an electrical load (lights or ignition) with the motor stopped. Make sure the ammeter is working and now shows a "-" reading. 3 - Repolarize the generator. Take a short piece of wire and momentarily connect the BAT and ARM terminals on the regulator. 4 - Now start the tractor and watch the ammeter. It should indicate charge when the motor's at operating RPM. If it does not, the regulator probably got toasted during the reverse polarity incident and will need to be replaced. Good luck!
