On the 424, the transmission, differential and final drive are all together. There is a plug on the side of the transmission to check the level. I used to have a 424, but sold it and can't remember exact location. As I recall capacity is around 7 or 8 gallons. Use HyTran Fluid. The 424 does not use the transmission as the hydraulic reservoir as most modern tractors do. It has a separate reservoir on top of the transmission under the seat. You have to check that level and drain and refill separate from the transmission. You bought a tough old tractor. It should do a lot of work for you. I highly recommend you go to the IH dealer and get yourself a manual for it. Won't cost much and well worth the few bucks it costs. Also be aware that when repairs are needed that the Mahindra tractor is a copy of this series of tractor and a lot of part interchange and are cheaper than the IH parts.
