Was the Australian 686 the same tractor we had in North America. The American 686 had a Melrose Park D312 engine in 1976 to 1978 production and a D310 Neuss engine in 1979 -1980 production. The 686 we had was basically a slightly updated 656 and 666(had the 5 speed gearbox with the old Super M-TA type Torque Amplifier). Note that a very few 1976-1977 models had a C291 gas engine.

Second question. What was the 696 ? Did it have a 656-686 type chassis or did it use the larger 706-766 type chassis ?

Third question. Did the Australian 866 and 976 use the same chassis as the American 766-966 tractors

Finally I have an advertizing sales brochure for the Australian 86 Series B tractors(dated 1981). They look identical to the American 1981 model 86 series tractors. The only differences I could see is the use of Cat 3 three point hitch for all models(good idea) and the 986 having the DT358 engine(instead of the D436). Also the Australian 786 used the D310 whereas the American 786 used the D358. How long did the Australian Series B remain in production after 1981. The American 86 series production ended in July 1981 and the 30 and 50 series were produced afterwards.

It sure is interesting looking at all the different tractors models that emanated from the original 706-806
